Stonewood Builders Limited

History

HistoryStonewood Builders Limited specialises in high quality work on old buildings. Based at Castle Combe in North Wiltshire, the company works in the surrounding area to conserve, refurbish and extend local period houses, using both traditional and modern craft skills.

The company was founded under its previous title, NMA Builders, in 1972.  It became a partnership in the early 1980s and in 2001 became a limited company, changing its name to Stonewood Builders Limited.  The business has experienced considerable growth since 2001 and now employs around 40 trained staff, but has retained a strong emphasis on the personal touch.

HistoryBack up is provided by a closely knit group of regular specialist sub-contractors.

Contracts have included complete £1,000,000 restorations of larger period buildings with the preservation and conservation of their original features; £250,000 conversions and modernisations of flats and terraced buildings; and £100,000 extensions and conversions of outbuildings to offices or granny annexes.  We offer a ‘minor works’ service to deal with future maintenance of the property – and, under the direction of the County Archaeologist, we were part of the team which conserved the 13th century motte and bailey keep which gives Castle Combe its name.

Stonewood has built up a reputation for being reliable and skilled and applying an intelligent approach to Building.
