The remodelling of this Victorian Mill House in a south Wiltshire village encompassed a huge range of skills and a proactive and methodical approach. Alongside the ongoing conversation of the Mill House, Bakery and Dairy were the restoration of the original 170 year old mill equipment itself, disguising the practical technologies of a swimming pool into a historic thatched, oak clad building and mastering the design, manufacture and installation of the bespoke glazed, 5-floor staircase for the main Mill House.
"From the outset we knew that Marden Mill would be a project that would utilise the full range of specialities within the Stonewood business. Both the scale of the project and the intricacies of the detail necessitated meticulous planning, management and the unwavering application of skill.
"With the clients’ schedule remaining key, we worked tirelessly to complete phases in line with family events and where the unforeseen did arise, our proactive approach meant that a dialogue was quickly established to produce solutions.
"I have personally taken great pleasure in the challenges of this unique project – especially those presented by the magnificent stainless steel, glass and oak staircase and the degree of specialist craftsmanship involved in the mill restoration. It is a real pleasure to visit our clients from time to time to see the buildings in full use and how the grounds are maturing and settling into the wider surroundings."
