"I have enjoyed a great working relationship with Stonewood. They were always available to discuss ongoing issues and delivered our project on time – testament to their committed team of directly employed tradesmen and sub-contractors."
Client from a West Wiltshire country Farmhouse
This beautiful Grade II listed Cotswold country Farmhouse and outbuildings were surrounded by a sea of concrete, a landscape inherited from its years as a working farm.
Following the earlier conversion of one of the outbuildings and a package of internal restoration works to the main Farmhouse, the client appointed Stonewood for a second phase of works which would see the Farmhouse extended, the remaining outbuilding converted, and the landscape around these buildings transformed to create a beautiful residential dwelling.
"Right from the start the architect very much took a back seat in the running of this project, so we took charge of liaising with Listed Buildings and Building Control Officers, and specialist Consultants throughout the process. We already had an excellent working relationship with our client from the previous project that proved essential for this second phase of works. As is often the nature of renovation and conversion projects, the details of the scheme developed and changed as we progressed and we made sure we were always on hand to discuss alterations at short notice.
"A large number of variations were added to the contract as it progressed, but the client had a very definite deadline that they wanted us to meet. We managed to organize both our own workforce and a range of sub-contractors to work longer hours during the week and a number of weekends towards the end of the contract to ensure that we met this deadline."
Claire Purton, Stonewood Project Manager
We were pleased to be instrumental in the transformation of this site, honouring the traditional building features that had become engulfed in its agricultural practicality. The result is a stunning Farm with a clear demarcation of the residential accommodation from the farming areas of the site.
