And when additional specialist skills are required, we draw on our well-established list of experienced, highly skilled sub-contractors, ensuring that everyone on site echoes the quality and professionalism that is synonymous with the Stonewood name.

Achieving exceptional professionalism in building is about attaining the right skills and honing them with experience and training. This is why our training philosophy allows all our employees to continually build their knowledge and abilities. This approach has helped to produce a highly skilled team that takes great pride in what they do.

As a member of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), we provide many opportunities and provide a mix of off-site and in-house training for all our employees through NVQ and other schemes. We also work to develop the skills of apprentices through collaborations with local colleges to help younger people move into skilled work and have won industry awards for this commitment to education.

We particularly invest in our Site Managers who play a crucial connecting role between our clients and the project delivery. We ensure they are all trained on the (CITB) Site Managers Training Scheme, are experienced in health and safety, and are able to lead our approach to environmental responsibility.

We don’t just rely on practical skills though – we ensure all our employees understand the importance of developing great client relationships and delivering on the values of quality, professionalism and service that underpins the business.

HR ADVISOR (STONEWOOD GROUP) 

Stonewood Group are a collection of construction and design companies operating throughout the Cotswolds and south-west England raising the bar in design, delivery, and customer experience. We have experienced considerable growth in recent years and are looking to recruit a full-time HR Advisor to join our busy Head Office in Castle Combe, near Chippenham.

The HR Advisor role is a highly diverse ‘Generalist’ role supporting the HR Manager and working with the Training Co-ordinator.

BUYER (CASTLE COMBE) 

We are looking to recruit a Buyer to join our busy Head Office in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. The successful candidate will work within our Buying Team, assisting in the ongoing development of the procurement process

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide primary purchasing support for our various projects
  • Sourcing and ordering materials at the best price possible
  • Price negotiation
  • Placing orders for materials, working to an agreed time scale
  • Issuing Site Managers with all material information, dealing with any queries they may have
  • Identifying new suppliers, whilst maintaining excellent relationships with our existing supply chain
  • Monitoring price agreements to ensure they remain competitive
  • Assisting with plant hire requirements where necessary
  • General admin and invoice queries

Required Experience and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Good IT skills
  • Driving license and use of car (due to office location)
  • A competent negotiator
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great team ethic
  • A flexible approach to work

The ideal candidate will have similar experience working in a construction related Procurement Department. Candidates with experience working within Builders Merchants will also be considered.
