Coastal Retreat

Our client purchased the property next to their 19th-century coastguard cottage on the Dorset coast, aiming to create guest accommodation and an entertaining space for friends and family, including a garage conversion. While the house had recently been developed, it required significant modernisation. We worked closely with the client and their interior & garden designer company, Woodhouse & Law to integrate the two properties, ensuring a cohesive flow while maintaining each home’s distinct character.

The project involved creating a Scandinavian-inspired coastal aesthetic with subtle glamour. Natural materials were combined with metallic accents, such as planters and light fittings, to elevate the calming spaces. In the basement, a previously underutilized area was transformed into a luxurious entertaining space, complete with a family movie room. Featuring a large screen, a deep, comfortable sofa, and illuminated alcoves, it became one of the most cherished rooms in the home.

Many of the rooms also use a palette of blues, creams, and natural materials to reflect the coastal surroundings. The work extended to the gardens, seamlessly linking the indoor and outdoor areas.
